Yuku et la fleur d'Himalaya

Yuku and the Himalayan Flower

Yuku et la fleur d'Himalaya

Yuku is a little mouse that lives a good life with her family in the vaults of a castle. She enjoys listening to her grandmother’s stories and likes to accompany everyone’s beloved tales with her ukulele and singing. Yuku and her siblings’ favourite story is the one about the magical flower of the Himalayas that brings eternal light. When the grandmother, weakened by an attack from the castle cat, tells her charges that her time will soon come and she will follow the little blind mole through the twists and turns of the earth, Yuku decides to set out on the dangerous journey to find the flower of the Himalayas and give it to her grandmother. Yuku embarks on a great adventure and along the way meets all kinds of forest animals with whom she sometimes gets along better, sometimes worse. But with her songs and her ukulele she always finds a way as well as friends who are willing to help her. Yuku is even able to stand her ground against the evil wolf and escape capture – thanks to her friends and her songs.

“Yuku et la fleur d’Himalaya” is a fairy tale for young and old adventurers from the age of four and up. Directors Rémi Durin and Arnaud Demuynck and their production team call the 65-minute film a “cheerful musical” that sensitively deals with themes such as loss and death and never loses its lightness on account of its catchy songs. Durin and Demuynck had already worked together in 2013 for “Le parfum de la carotte”, which was honoured with the Jury Award for a TV Special at the Annecy Festival in 2014. (Corinna Haag)
