Our Wednesday Programme

Check out our gallery for daily festival impressions!

Whether at the «Edit-a-thon», the retrospective for Joanna Quinn, or the panel discussion «She Goes for Animation»: Wednesday’s spotlight is on strong women. Additional highlights are interesting coming soons/making ofs and unique feature films.

Heroines

  • In our «Edit-a-thon», you can learn how to edit Wikipedia articles and thereby also help increase gender diversity on the website. Registration is free and it’s also possible to drop by spontaneously. The planned intro in the cinema Sterk 1 will not take place however. Instead the workshop starts directly in the Tumbler at 11:30am.
  • Joanna Quinn, one of the most important animators of the present, will be honoured with a retrospective at 5.15pm in the cinema Sterk 1.
  • Also at 5.15pm, the Museum Langmatt offers a guided tour on art collector Jenny Brown. In German.
  • At 6pm, the panel discussion «She Goes for Animation» will take place in the Rampe in collaboration with the Swiss Women’s Audiovisual Network. Afterwards, Fantoche will officially sign a pledge of equality and inclusion at film festivals.

Feature films

  • For those of you who like it weird, we recommend the Estonian stop-motion film «Old Man Cartoon Movie» in the cinema Trafo 3 at 7.45pm, whose crude characters and absurd humour guarantee great entertainment.
  • More serious, but just as interesting is «Kill It and Leave This Town» in the cinema Orient at 9pm. Mariusz Wilczyński’s feature debut combines in a surreal manner memories of childhood with dreamlike fantasies.
