On Friday, experts of the Swiss animation field will come together for the sixth time at the «Industry Day». Our cooperation with #ZeitsprungIndustrie also puts business in the spotlight. Additional highlights of the day are a retrospective and an exhibition centred on animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger, weird music videos, and extraordinary features.
Lotte Reiniger
Lotte Reiniger was one of the first female directors to make a name for herself in the male-dominated film business. With her silhouette animations, which were inspired by Chinese puppet theatre, she gained worldwide fame and made important contributions to the development of the medium.
- In the cinema Trafo 3 at 3.15pm, there will be a retrospective of her enchanting short film work. Allow yourself to be whisked away to magical places by her unique animation style.
- In Kunstraum Baden, you can marvel at selected short films and materials from Reiniger’s workshop until Saturday from 12 to 10pm and on Sunday from 12 to 7pm.
Industry Day 2020: Hidden Potential
The guests of this year’s «Industry Day» can expect a fully packed programme brimming with creative, technical, and economic potential in the Druckereiraum starting from 9am. Among other things, there will be a making of for the collaboration project «Only a Child», a meeting with leading representatives of the Danish animation industry, and an introduction to the new Swiss studio Asako Film. At the end, the prestigious «Swiss Animation Industry Award» will be given for the third time to the best animated commissioned film.
Additional highlights
- In collaboration with the Aargauer event series #ZeitsprungIndustrie, we present a diverse programme centred on the topics innovation and business with «Industrie im Spiegel der Animation». In the cinema Trafo 3 at 1pm.
- Anime fans are spoiled for choice at this year’s festival. A particular delight is «Weathering with You» in the cinema Trafo 1 at 9pm. The new film by the director of «Your Name», Makoto Shinkai, is a fantastically animated ecological fable and love story.
- Those who need a break but still didn’t get enough of cinema should check out the wonderful world of music videos in the sixth edition of our «Animated Music Video Darlings». In the cinema Trafo 3 at 11pm.
