Daria Kashcheeva

Daria Kashcheeva (*1986) is studying for a master’s degree in Animated Film at FAMU in Prague, Czechia. Her student films have featured at many international festivals. Her film “To Accept” won the 2017 Nespresso Talents short film competition at Cannes. “Daughter”, the animated puppet film she made as part of her bachelor’s studies, is an exploration of the father-daughter relationship that experiments with camera motion. The film premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where it was awarded the Cristal for a Graduation Film. Overall, “Daughter” has won over 100 awards including Best Film at the 2019 Fantoche International Animation Film Festival, the Jury Award at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and the Student Academy Award in the Animation category (International Film Schools). It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. Daria is currently working on her master’s degree film, “Electra. A Poem”, which uses stop-motion pixilation techniques. The film is an international co-production set for completion in spring 2023.
