Atsushi Wada

Born in 1980, Atsushi Wada graduated from Osaka Kyoiku University, Image Forum Institute of Moving Image and Tokyo University of the Arts. He began to create short animation works in self-study from 2002 on. He is interested in smooth movements and follows a traditional Japanese concept called «Ma», meaning the tension produced between movements. In 2010 his short «In a Pig’s Eye» was nominated at Zagreb, Annecy, Hiroshima, Ottawa and at Fantoche International Animation Film Festival, where it won the Best Film. In the same year «The Mechanism of Spring» premiered at the Venice Film Festival and in 2012 «The Great Rabbit» won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
