A brown hare is alternately trailed by a hunter and a mangy fox and is fed up with a winter of cold and hunger. Then it finds out what comfortable lives the rabbits lead in their stalls. The hare readily surrenders its freedom to the four walls of the stall, but quickly realises it has imprisoned itself. This story about freedom and solidarity is subtly charged with political significance.
