Exhibition "Anime Sakka Zakka"

Exhibition: Anime Sakka Zakka

«Anime Sakka Zakka» is a project started in 2013 by two female independent animators: Manami Wakai and Yukie Nakauchi. They invited fellow animators («Sakka» means «author» in Japanese) to make accessories and collectable objects («zakka») based on their films, which Wakai and Nakauchi then exhibit and sell, as a kind of expansion of animation. Their choice of filmmakers shows the atmosphere of Japanese indie animation: distinguished by an intimate and warm touch, and a somewhat strange or off aspect. In this exhibition cute characters break out from the screen and enter into our daily lives as everyday objects.

Early this year, «Anime Sakka Zakka» is growing with its new member Saki Iyori. They will also make a short animation film using the drawing styles of their favourite illustrators for the third edition of Anime Sakka Zakka held this autumn. Their circle of friends is getting bigger and bigger and now reaches Switzerland. What kind of chemical reaction will happen at Fantoche?
