Swiss Competition 1

Sixty-seven films were submitted by Swiss filmmakers this year. A three-member selection team chose the 24 works that stand out best in terms of innovation, technique, narration or originality. They will be screened in two film programmes, Swiss Competition 1 and 2.
Fantoche is proud to present a high-quality selection, and is delighted to see how Swiss animation filmmaking is flourishing on all levels. Established filmmakers are just as much present as film students, alongside a Swiss-French co-production. A broad spectrum can be discovered here: ranging from delightfully mischievous to dramatic narrative films, ingeniously associative eyewitness accounts in collage, cartoon, cut-out and paint-on-glass, as well as an experimental Jazz music video and a TV series for kids about dinosaurs. And let’s not forget the splatter-thriller with the legend of the Devil’s Bridge in Uri or the painting depicting the historic Battle of San Romano, in masterful morphing.
Moreover, the multipliers are represented with a high-ranking jury comprised of three internationally active animation film experts (two festival directors and an Oscar-nominated director). They will select the gems among our Swiss selection and contribute to their visibility on an international level.
