Animation Workshops
Workshop at your school

Making your own cartoons in under a year – professional cartoon workshops at your school.
“Moving images”, animation and special effects have become part of our everyday lives. We are used to watching animated objects or artificially generated worlds, at the cinema or on TV, on our mobile phones, online or in computer games. Children, in particular, are very familiar with using them. However, many of them don’t know how the impression of movement or the illusion of “new realities” are created. Cartoon workshops, consisting of theory and practice, teach children about the principle of the “moving image” and, thus, the basics of film-making in a simple and entertaining way.
Designed and led by professional film-makers, classes will create an animation in small groups, frame by frame. From the screenplay to the visual design and on to directing their own filming. By doing it for themselves, they will gain an insight into film production, and this will give them a greater awareness of what they see. They will find themselves at the interface between the handicraft and the digital medium
The scope of the project can be adapted to suit the size of the class and the time available. Special themes or particular techniques can be incorporated easily into the conceptual design.
The workshops will culminate in the Fantoche Festival, where the finished cartoons will be screened to the public in a specially created strand of the programme with the young film-makers in attendance.
