In the Forest of Huckybucky

Dyrene i Hakkebakkeskogen

Morten the Mouse lives with his friends Claus and Mister Hare in the Huckybucky Forest – a wonderful place to live and sing songs. But the little animals must constantly be on guard: Marvin the cunning Fox and Horace Hedgehog have the unfortunate tendency to devour everything that crosses their paths. And so aside from Mister Hare’s gingerbread cookies, every once in a while it happens that one or another mouse must also meet its maker. When Horace Hedgehog nearly catches Morten’s grandma, Morten decides to pass a law for all the animals, putting a stop to the wild urges so that they can all live together peacefully in the Huckybucky Forest. With favourable support from the bear family, forest dwellers will no longer be eaten. But will Marvin the Fox play by the new forest rules?
“In the Forest of Huckybucky” is a charming stop-motion film based on the classic children’s book and songs by Norwegian author Thorbjørn Egner about two mice and their animal friends in the Huckybucky Forest. Together with the two prestigious stop-motion studios – Aardman Animation (“Wallace & Gromit”) and Laika (“Coraline” and “Corpse Bride”) – the small Norwegian Qvisten animation studio enters the world stage with the time-honoured technique of bringing puppets to life. Its cuddly figures and striking landscapes stand out owing to the elaborate details, which render the quirky characters all the more loveable. A charming family film from Norway. (ns)
