Lettres de femmes

On the battlefields of the First World War the medic Simon treats the infantry soldiers with love letters. He himself seems to be immune to guns and bullets. Thinking of his female war pen pal all the time seems to protect him. But death enters unexpectedly. Can written words even begin to ease the pain?
