Our weekend programme

Check out our gallery for festival impressions!

Anyone who is interested in virtual reality and augmented reality should definitely come to the Stanzerei and the Reformierte Kirche Baden near the station square on Saturday from 12.00 - 22.00 and on Sunday from 12.00 - 19.00 (only at the Stanzerei).
During the whole spring-time Fantoche did interviews with four school classes from Baden and Zürich on the topic of migration. The pupils themselves weren’t the only ones being interviewed, but also three persons that each had completely different reasons for coming to Switzerland. There’s the 22 years old student Ola from Syria who fled from the war to Switzerland three years ago and now makes her living as an artist. There’s also Rob from Australia, who followed his girlfriend to distant Europe and struggled with the «clash of cultures» in the beginning. And then there’s Udaya from Sri Lanka, who came to Switzerland as a political refugee and now writes poetic Haikus. All stories were transformed into VR and AR experiences under the direction of VR-expert Manu Weiss.

Anyone who missed our opening film «Ruben Brandt, Collector» has the opportunity to watch it today at 18.30 at the cinema Trafo 2. Additionally, Levento Sipos (technical director, animator and compositor) will give interesting insights into his work in the programme «Making-of: Ruben Brandt, Collector» at 12.15 at the cinema Trafo 3.

On Thursday, there was a Making-of with Simon Otto. Don’t fret if you missed it: You have another chance to get a glimpse behind the scenes. Following the second showing of «How to Train your Dragon: The Hidden World» at 11.00 in the cinema Trafo 2, the programme «Drachen Zähmen und Drachen Zeichnen» will give you the opportunity to be part of a special kind of Q&A with Simon Otto.

The Swiss Game Developers Association SGDA explores the intersection between animation and game design again this year. Anyone who is interested in the newest trends in and around the Swiss as well as the international world of video games is invited to come to the cinema Sterk 1 on this Saturday at 14.15. The event is public and suitable for all visitors.

Sunday is excursion day! The annual excursion will be to Lucerne and to the studios of six important Swiss film makers: Delia Hess, Nils Hedinger, Anja Sidler, Irmgard Walthert, Jadwiga Kowalska-Loosli and Lena von Döhren let themselves be looked over the shoulders from 11.30 - 17.30. You can register for the excursion at the info desk at the festival center.

The fulminant conclusion will be again this year with our award ceremony. The selected films can be seen in the programme «Best of Fantoche 2019» from 20.45 at the cinemas Trafo 3 and Sterk 1 as well as at the cinema Trafo 2 at 21.00. Do not miss it!

In addition to all these suggestions, we recommend that you also browse through our programme once again. A lot of feature films, curated film blocks of our focus programmes, the film bus, workshops and exhibitions are waiting for you. There’s something for every taste.
