“Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” by Jenny Slate and Dean Fleischer, will be the 19th feature film showing at the 20th edition of Fantoche.
The googly-eyed shell with shoes is coming to Baden: the US mockumentary “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” is the feature-film version of a three-minute YouTube video – almost 12 years old now – that was never intended for public consumption but nevertheless garnered 33 million views. The feature took a number of years to make but has received widespread acclaim, with a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The feel-good film was created with Kirsten Lepore as Animation Director. Lepore has been a regular in Fantoche’s short and feature film programmes with productions such as “Story from North America” (2007), “Bottle” (2010) and “Hi, Stranger” (2016).
