Competition Time!
Those who can hardly wait for the excitement of the competition will already get their money’s worth today. After the screening of our team favourite “Princess Mononoke” at 11:45, all 4 blocks of the International Competition will be shown one after the other in Trafo 1.
The best Swiss animated films try to convince the jury in the Swiss Competition. Come to Trafo 2: Swiss Competition 1 at 12:15 and Swiss Competition 2 at 18:30.
Our two Kids Film Competitions will run consecutively from 14:15 onwards at Kino Orient.
Focus the Balkans
We start Focus the Balkans today with “New Voices” at Trafo 3 at 12:15. This programme with films by Kosovan, Serbian and Croatian filmmakers is a critical and emancipatory echo of the past 30 years.
In the evening, we will show the film programme “Zagreb School of Animation - An incomplete Introduction” at Kino Sterk 1 at 20:45. The works of filmmakers from Zagreb has had a major influence on the international animation scene.
All Programmes in Focus the Balkans
Exhibition Langmatt: «Raumfahrt VI»
For those who need a little break between the diverse films, we recommend our exhibition at Museum Langmatt. The sixth edition of «Raumfahrt» is dedicated to the topic of insects as depicted from an artistic perspective. Young Swiss artists present works that take a light-hearted, humorous and poetic approach to examining the hierarchies and symbiosis between people and creepy crawlies. Today there is a guided tour at 17:15!
20 Years Animation Luzern
The Lucerne School of Art and Design is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Animation degree programme. It has strongly influenced the Swiss animation scene. We’re showing a selection of the best films by graduates of the programme.
Royal Fish – Fantoche Late Night: Let’s GIF!
The varied GIF programme is now a regular festival feature. A series of outlandish and diverse animated micro-films will be set to live music by Me Tiene Chata, a Chilean DJ duo with a focus on women in the electronic scene. Let’s graphically interchange formats! See you at 22:00 at Royal!
