Mirjam Skal

Mirjam Skal is a freelance media composer and orchestrator from Zurich. She will complete her studies in Composition for Film, Theatre and Media at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) with a master’s degree in 2022. In recent years, she has composed numerous soundtracks for short films, games, commercials and documentaries and regularly composes music for SRF (Swiss Radio and Television). In her compositions, she prefers to interweave synthetic textures with orchestral sounds, and is also fascinated by special instruments such as the theremin and hurdy-gurdy. Mirjam Skal participated in the Berlinale Talents Edition 2021. In 2021, she also received a mentorship from the Alliance for Women Film Composers (AWFC) under the guidance of renowned film composer Mychael Danna (“Life of Pi”).
