Juggling With Explosives

Reducing the first five editions of the festival down to two short film programmes: what madness is this? Nevertheless, the four Fantoche founders have dug into this embarrassment of riches – albeit limiting themselves to the “International Competition” and “Best of the World” or “World Wide Hits” programmes from the festival’s first decade. And they’ve taken great joy in bringing together celebrated works with forgotten classics, throwing all care for chronological order to the wind. Yes, this kind of curation can really be a breath of fresh air! Bundled into two cinematic bouquets that each exude a familiar scent: the scent of the young festival – ambitious, urgent and contradictory.
